Well basically what I am going to blog today is about Google Webmaster Tools. Google Webmaster Tools aims to gives information about

  • Tools

You just have to Register at their site and put the authorization code that they will give. if you will be having some problems just comment and we will try to resolve it here.

Getting Google’s view of your site, and diagnosing potential problems
The first step to increasing your site’s visibility on Google is learning how our robots crawl and index your site.

  • Crawl info: You can make sure that Google have access your site, and see when Googlebot last visited. You can also view URLs that we’ve had trouble crawling and why we couldn’t crawl them. This way, you can fix any problems preventing us from indexing all of your pages.
  • Robots.txt file validation: See if we’re having trouble with your file, and test out changes to that file before you change it on your server. You can input your robots.txt and it will give you reply if it is ok or not.
  • Website content: View top content from your site and see the words that other sites use to link to your site.

Seeing how your site performs
A second step is learning what drives traffic to your site.

  • Top queries: Find the top queries that drive traffic to your site and where your site is included in the top search results. This will let you learn how users are finding your site. ( With this report you could always use a redirect method in order to have a continues crawl at your site. You have to remember that crawler stops if it encounter Error 404. And therefore it is not healthy for your blog. )
  • Indexing information: See how your site is indexed and which of your pages are included in the index. If we find violations in your site, we’ll give you the opportunity to fix the problems and request re-inclusion of your site.

One of the useful tool of Google Webmaster Tools is telling you the numbers of site being indexed by Google vs the number of links that your sitemap is reporting. So this can give you an idea on how you can improve your site navigation.

Normally a crawler will stop as long as there are any broken links that is it being encountered. So why would you let the crawl stop ? You have to redirect it.

Knowing how your site perform behind the scene will help you focus in areas where you need to increase your SEO Experiment. I hope that this SEO tip will be of help to you.

I might have another post regarding this tools my experience and tips. I can only blog for my experience and not how the system work like what Matt Cutts is doing. But I do believe that it can help for future SEO player. I am not an expert but I am willing to do experiments and share result. and By the way I am also earning from those experiment.

Google Spam Filters

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Google, the Search Engine King, gave more emphasis to keep their search results as clean as possible.

Google search engine ranking algorithm has a variety of spam filters in their ranking algorithm that try to remove low quality web sites.

If your web site gets caught by one of these filters, it will be very difficult to get high Google Rankings.

Google Spam Filters are :

1. Google’s Sandbox Filter
2. Google’s Trust Rank Filter
3. Google’s Domain Age Filter

All the three Google filters take into account the age of a web site. Google Sandbox Filter, implemented by google is a filter that prevents New Web sites from getting high rankings for competitive search terms. This filter is called Google’s Sandbox.

Google’s TrustRank filter is an important filter. Web sites with a high TrustRank get high rankings on Google. The TrustRank of a web site is determined by the age of a web site, the quality of inbound links and the contents of a web site.

The Domain Age filter is another filter that considers the age of your web site. Web sites with old domain names are more likely to get high rankings for competitive keywords on Google.

How to get ranked quickly on search engines

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

This is what some guy did to get ranked on search engines. It’s not my own method, but it’ll give you another perspective:

Step 0
——
* Build micro-niche site, fully loaded with usual SEO work.

Step 1
——–
* Submitted site to google.
* Submitted site to yahoo
* Submitted site to live/msn.

Step 2
——
* Added sitemap and monitored on google webmaster tools.
* Same for Yahoo.

Step 3
——-
* Planted Yahoo Answers Question, waited 24 hrs, submitted answer, waited 6 hours, accepted my answer as the best. (via proxy obviously).
* Planted Link that was a good match on Wikipedia.

Step 4
——-
* Paid someone to submit to 200 directories.
* Paid someone for links for 1 month on “ranked” blogs.

Step 5
——
* Hit 4 video sides, with videos that had our URL embedded.

This was over the course of 1 week. By the end of the week, we ranked no.3 for a generic “buy XXX” and no.1 for specific “buy XXX XXX”. As well as other terms.

After step #2, I had Google, msn and yahoo visit the site a few times and start indexing. Still didn’t rank for anything. By Step #3, which was day 3, we ranked in Yahoo for our terms (above the original merchant). This was almost immediately after the Yahoo Answer went live (accepted best answer).

Nothing in Google at this point, even though the Wikipedia page we planted our link on ranked for said terms.

We get to day 5 and I noticed one of our fluff pages is ranked in Google (and nothing else is, found by searching for XXX.com), I place a link to our main squeeze page with appropriate anchor text and boom, 3 hours later, we rank between #1 and #7 for a variety of related terms in Google.

After carefully monitoring all backlinks and traffic, I discovered none of the blogs ranked when searching for our domain, XXX.com and only 3 directories out of 200 ranked when searching for our URL.

After 2 weeks, none of the directories have the links and none of the blogs or at least any that are index by Google.

We still get traffic from Wikipedia links and our rank is currently solid in google as is our rank in Yahoo. Live.com we are nowhere to be seen. The video sites give us solid backlinks for the content.

Moral of this story, don’t pay for services you don’t really need for ranking and make sure your site is properly interlinked without being too spammy.
